We invite you learn more about our services.
Our Priorities
At ASHP Advantage, our highest priorities are the quality and credibility of our educational programming and the ability of our activities to address identified educational needs.
All ASHP Advantage educational activities are needs based. Needs-assessment data and practice gaps are analyzed before activity development. ASHP Advantage focuses on gaps in practice that may be mitigated through the education of health care professionals who can facilitate improvement. We use a variety of methods to identify these practice gaps, including surveys of target audiences; questionnaires and tests designed to assess knowledge, skills, and competency; published studies; and recommendations from experts indicating that education is needed. The proposals we submit are designed to close identified practice gaps that are identified during the needs assessment. Active-learning techniques are incorporated into activities to reinforce the educational objectives. Finally, outcomes-assessment data demonstrate the educational impact of activities.
ASHP Advantage adheres to the highest standards. Faculty and staff follow ASHP Advantage policies on conflict of interest resolution, disclosure statements, and content validation. Our activities are conducted for scientific and educational purposes only. Activities are planned and conducted in strict accordance with all applicable standards, including the ACPE Accreditation Standards for Continuing Pharmacy Education, FDA Guidelines for Industry-supported Scientific and Educational Activities, and the ACCME Essential Areas and Policies and Standards for Commercial Support.
Our Stakeholders
We have the needs of multiple stakeholders in mind in our activity development process:
- Participants in ASHP Advantage educational activities depend on our expertise to improve upon their knowledge in a respective area.
- Faculty have responsibilities outside of ASHP Advantage programming, and we work hard to use their time efficiently so that we can continue to work with the highest caliber of health care professionals.
- ASHP members expect that as a division of ASHP, ASHP Advantage will reflect the quality expected of ASHP and will add value to their membership.
- Participants and commercial supporters can be sure that ASHP Advantage takes appropriate measures to ensure that the scientific information presented is up-to-date, balanced, and free from commercial bias.
Our Process
Our process reflects a philosophy of continuous improvement both in addressing educational gaps and in our overall programming design.
- Needs assessment data are analyzed to identify gaps in practice.
- Learning objectives and expected outcomes are developed based upon identified educational needs.
- Potential faculty are identified.
- Grant proposal is submitted to potential funding sources.
- A Letter of Agreement is executed to meet all applicable standards.
- ASHP Advantage’s educational development team is identified, including faculty.
- Educational development team plans and conducts the educational activity.
- Educational outcomes are assessed at the applicable levels for the activity, which are then used as part of our continuous-improvement process.
