At the conclusion of this program, attendees should be able to:

  • Discuss the principles of anesthesia including induction, titration and maintenance of anesthetic depth, and time to recovery.
  • Compare and contrast the chemistry, pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and safety profiles of the available inhaled anesthetics.
  • Describe how the surgical procedure and patient characteristics may be used to determine agent selection.
  • Determine what facility and patient population factors should be considered when evaluating an inhaled anesthetic agent for formulary inclusion.
